I am a 46-year-old woman. I have two children, 15 and 9 years old. My journey began when I was 42; I was going through a divorce. I have now been in recovery for over 3 years. I obtained my sobriety with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous. While the support through AA was helpful, it was very hard to build the trust with my children and their father without documented accountability of having no alcohol in my system. I voluntarily signed up for the Soberlink Program to rebuild that trust with my family and myself. I tested with Soberlink 4 times a day; 6am, 12pm, 6pm and 10pm. Once submitting a test, the results were immediately texted and emailed to my children’s father. This immediate reporting provided reassurance to my family. I was able to keep my children in my lives because of Soberlink. Without Soberlink, I do not feel that the courts would have allowed that to happen. I would have lost my children completely. After 3 years of sobriety, I still use the Soberlink Device while I have the children in my care. If you have nothing to hide, you hide nothing! This is about building trust. I also love having the documented results for my children, their father and my family. Everyone has a bad day and we don’t always handle situations as eloquently as we would like. But with my documented results, at least my family can have comfort that alcohol does not play any part in my behavior. The relationship with my children and their father could not be more solid thanks to Soberlink.
